Membership and Terms:

Seven members.  Each members is appointed by the City Council.  Building Official serves as non-voting member and keeps records of all proceedings.

The Examining Board shall consist of 7 members appointed by the City of Panama City Beach City Council.  Such board shall include whenever possible, one electrician, one gas contractor, one air conditioning contractor, one plumbing contractor, and two general contractor or other contractor (building and residential).  One member who is a resident within the City limits that is not, and has never been, a member or practitioner of  a profession regulated by the contractor licensing and examination board or a member of any closely related profession.  All members of the board, except for the consumer representative, shall be licensed in this state and actively engaged in the profession they represent within the City limits.

Terms shall expire and new appointments shall be effective on July 22, provided that all members shall serve until their successors are duly qualified and appointed.  After the first term, all members shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years.

Responsibility:

Accepts and approves or disapproves applications for Competency Cards; Issues contractor certificates; Conducts hearings and Disciplines contractors for violations of building codes or State Statutes.

Schedule of Monthly Meetings:

Third Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m.
