Please join us at 4 p.m. next Monday, April 18 at 17115 Panama City Beach Parkway to celebrate Mayor Gayle Oberst’s 16 years of service to Panama City Beach as we host a ribbon cutting for the new Panama City Beach Police Department building.
Mayor Oberst was elected as councilwoman in 2000 and appointed mayor in 2006, then won the position in two elections. She cannot run for mayor this year due to term limits, but under her guidance Panama City Beach has made incredible steps forward, and we want to honor her for leaving the city in excellent financial shape, with great new amenities that will serve as a tribute to her well into the future. (Projects such as the new PCBPD building and new Public Services building under construction – 23,800 square feet, as well as the Panama City Beach Conservation Park, Frank Brown Park, Aaron Bessant Park Amphitheatre and Gayle’s Trails – which are already named in her honor.)
The public is invited to join city officials and city employees attending the ribbon cutting for the new Panama City Beach Police Department building, where the Mayor and other officials will speak. The new 18,250 square-foot PCBPD building replaces the former building, which was built in 1957 and, at 8,000 square feet, has been long outgrown by the increased needs of a modern police force.
The new building meets all current FDLE requirements and will contain cutting-edge technology to allow the Panama City Beach Police Department officers continue to safeguard the public.
