Following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, the Panama City Beach Police Department has mobilized a Disaster Recovery and Support Unit to provide public safety assistance to the City of Perry, Florida, which experienced a direct hit from the storm last night.
The police department’s unit, consisting of several officers, specialized equipment, and K-9 assistance, deployed this morning around 9:30 am. The department is dispatching light towers, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and a command unit vehicle to support operational capabilities in Perry.
“We all know how fortunate we are here in Panama City Beach, but our neighbors to the east were not so lucky last night. We are going to do everything we can to help and ensure that we are there for them in their time of need. We understand the immense challenges first responders face in the aftermath of such disasters, especially when they work long hours away from their own families.”
The Panama City Beach Police Department proudly joins neighboring agencies, including the Panama City Police Department, to provide support to the Perry Police Department. Officers will assist with patrols, recovery efforts, and any other needs that arise as Perry begins its recovery process.
