Panama City Beach and the surrounding communities enjoy a beautiful outdoor aquatic facility located on the campus of Frank Brown Park in the heart of PCB. Lap swimming and Aquatic Fitness classes are available in the 50-meter pool averaging 78-82 degrees year-round. Seasonally, guests enjoy the newly renovated Kid’s Splash Pool, two springboard diving boards, aquatic basketball, and other aquatic and dry land family friendly activities!
As with any recreational activity or sport, there are inherent risks. Posted policies and rules
are in place to minimize risk while providing an enjoyable family experience.

AQUATIC CENTER GENERAL POLICY
Panama City Beach is a family friendly facility; respect, kindness and appropriate behavior is expected. For everyone’s safety, read the posted signs and follow instructions from the Aquatic Center Team. Policy violations can result in being asked to leave for the day, the temporary loss of membership, or permanent termination from the facility without compensation or reimbursement. Other restrictions may apply. The following is a brief list of current policies to keep in mind before planning your visit:
- Each guest must shower before entering the pool(s)
- Once admission is purchased, refunds are not available for delays or cancellations for safety reasons
- Swimwear requirements prohibit any lifeguard branded apparel, cotton, denim, fringe, or embellishments; swimwear should be family friendly and appropriate around small children
- Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an actively supervising person aged 16 or older
- Children and persons not completely potty trained are required to wear an approved swim diaper in the water at all times; disposable swim diapers are ok with the addition of snugly fitting plastic pants
- Non-swimmers of all ages are highly encouraged to wear a properly fitted personal floatation device (PFD) in the water; only non-inflatable Coast Guard approved PFDs are accepted (type II or type III)
- Teaching or coaching without a current contract with the Aquatic Center is STRICTLY PROHIBITED, same day contracts are not available; see the Aquatics Manager for more information
- PERSONAL NON-GLASS WATER BOTTLES are welcome, there is a complimentary water bottle refilling station located at the water fountain just inside the Aquatic Center
- Certified service dogs are welcome when compliant with ADA regulations; please note that emotional support animals are not subject to the same protections as certified service animals and are not permitted at the Aquatic Center. City policy mandates that service animals must be supervised by their handler or another adult if the handler is physically in the water.
The following is PROHIBITED:
- GLASS of any kind, including tempered glass masks or goggles
- Outside food and drinks, coolers of all sizes; light concessions are available year-round in the Aquatic Center office and The Salty Pelican offers lunch and snack items during seasonal REC swim times
- Pets
- Inflatables, including water wings and inflatable personal floatation devices (PFD)
- Smoking, vaping, or other smoke producing activities or paraphernalia; the Aquatic Center, Frank Brown Park, and all City properties are smoke free
- Alcohol, illegal substances, unmarked medication
- Knives, guns, or other weapons
CODE OF CONDUCT
Panama City Beach is a family friendly community; respect, kindness, and appropriate behavior is expected at the Aquatic Center. Foul language, threats, violence, and belligerent behavior will not be tolerated. Adhering to posted signage, following the guidance of Aquatic Center staff, and exercising the “Golden Rule” ensures everyone has a safe, enjoyable experience. In the event of conflict or emergencies, the Aquatic Center Team will implement responses promptly to mitigate the circumstance. This may include the services of EMS or law enforcement.
WEATHER
Here in the Florida Panhandle, we enjoy a temperate subtropical climate. However, the weather can become erratic at times. The Panama City Beach Aquatic Center Team is vigilant about observing weather conditions in real time and making safety-related decisions based on current conditions, historical data, and patterns. When registering and participating in aquatic programs, every effort is made to ensure your activity is executed without interruption. For registered participants in swim lessons or similar activities, alternatives will be provided whenever possible.
Delays, modified schedules, and closures are announced on the Panama City Beach Parks and Recreation Facebook page. In the event of same day program cancellations, registered participants are notified by phone, text, or email. Weather conditions can change quickly and may be very different at your home versus the Aquatic Center. If you are unsure, call the Aquatic Center office at (850) 236-2205 or check the Facebook page prior to proceeding.
INCLIMENT WEATHER POLICIES
Once admission is purchased, there are no refunds for delays or cancellations. In the event of pool closure due to inclement weather, you may return later in the day without additional fees if the pool reopens.
Operational hours are subject to change without notice. The Aquatic Center will remain open in most cases, even with poor weather conditions or precipitation such as rain, sleet, or snow.
Lightning: The Panama City Beach Aquatics Center utilizes the I-Strike Lightning Prediction and Warning System. When lightning is within 7 miles of the facility, pools will be evacuated, and a minimum delay of 30 minutes will be observed. Patrons will be directed to seek shelter immediately until the threat has subsided as determined by Aquatic Center Management.
Water temperature: In the event the pool temperature drops below 75 degrees or rises above 96 degrees, the pool will close until further notice, regardless of posted schedules.
Air temperature: Pool covers are utilized to maintain pool temperatures when nighttime temperatures are predicted to be 65 degrees or lower. When nighttime wind gusts are predicted to exceed 18 mph, covers remain stowed.
- If the air temperature is 35 degrees or lower, the facility will close until further notice, regardless of posted schedules.
- For short course - if the next day temperature at 6 a.m. is predicted to be 38 degrees or lower, the pool will not open before 10 a.m.; this decision will be made no later than 4 p.m. the day prior.
- For long course – if the next day temperature at 6 a.m. is predicted to be 50 degrees or lower, scheduled long course will be cancelled and short course lanes will be available during those times.
