The neighborhood in the S. San Souci Blvd stormwater basin has historically experienced localized flooding. To help alleviate flooding, the City has plans to demolish a house on S. Vestavia St and create a stormwater pond. This project also includes the establishment of roadsides swales on Nelda St, S. San Souci Blvd, and S. Vestavia St. This project is largely funded though FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).
